Historic Downtown sparkles when the City of Cedar Hill, Main Street Development and Preservation Board, Parks and Recreation, and downtown area businesses present Old Town Holiday on the Hill, the annual tree-lighting and holiday celebration. Performances, treats and a special appearance by Santa were featured at this event, which is held the first Thursday of every December. Downtown merchants provide holiday activities, specials and treats, and smart shoppers get a head start on holiday gift purchases!
Over 500 attendees learned how small changes can make a big impact at the City of Cedar Hill’s fifth annual Earth Day celebration on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Government Center. Attendees also learned about the community’s plans to continue a legacy of sustainability through educational, interactive displays from several city departments, community organizations and vendors at this free family friendly event.
The Red Oak Creek Trail is approximately 3 miles in length. It is a 12-foot wide hike and bike trail connecting the community to the Cedar Hill Recreation Center, Virginia Weaver Park, Dot Thomas Park and Cedar Trails Greenbelt. The trail is lighted and includes amenity stations every half mile. This project was jointly funded by the City of Cedar Hill and Dallas County.
Cedar Hill residents of all ages enjoyed a fun filled day of activities, entertainment, giveaways and more at the Cedar Hill Recreation Center 9th anniversary and Citywide Neighborhood Block Party.
Children and families from all over the DFW Metroplex enjoyed the 2013 Kids on the Hill Creative Arts Festival celebrating art, creativity and family! There was face painting, crafts and entertainment by The Que Pastas, storytellers Decee Cornish and Lucas Miller, Radio Disney Dallas Road Crew and LP's Dance plus so much more.
Over 150 children, ranging in ages 4 to 16, experienced the joy of fishing at the Valley Ridge Park Pond in Cedar Hill at the free Youth Fishing Tournament. The pond was generously stocked with plenty of hungry catfish to increase the odds of everyone catching a fish. The event is sponsored annually by the Cedar Hill Parks and Recreation Department and the Dallas Bass Hookers Club.
The Main Street Development and Preservation Board provided a glimpse of Downtown Cedar Hill's potential at the 2013 Better Block event. Revitalize Downtown 100 - 200 blocks of Broad St. and 700 block of Cedar Street.

35 neighborhood groups participated in Cedar Hill's 2012 National Night Out event at 28 locations throughout the City. National Night Out is a unique crime and drug prevention event held on the first Tuesday in October each year.
